It's hard to believe that in 4 short months I will have 2 – 2 year olds... however they've begun to show it. It was like a flip of a light switch. One day they were hitting, kicking, pushing, and throwing tantrums. I'm sure this is just a taste of what is yet to come, but I'm beside myself. I really don't know what to do. Sometimes they like to play by hitting and shoving each other, but about half of the time they're doing it out of anger or frustration. Sometimes Coen will just stand in the middle of the room and scream and I have absolutely no clue as to why. Then there's Liam, when he gets scolded for something or is upset he'll run crying to the couch and throw himself into it and cry. It's bad, but kinda cute too.

It's just another parenting decision where I'm at the cross-roads, trying to decide which direction to take. I've read that you need to comfort them when they're frustrated because they're confused by these new emotions they're having. To hold them or to distract them with something else. I could see how this would work, but I don't want to create little monsters that want comforted so they'll throw a fit to get it. Then on the flip side I've read that you should ignore them. If the first statement is true then I don't want to 'abandon' them during these confusing emotional times. What to do, what to do?

On the flip side, they are learning new things constantly. Coen is regularly picking up new words now. I believe he's up to 18, his newest is poo-poo. Liam still struggles but will sometimes repeat a word or sound one day, but not say it again. Example, a couple weeks ago Uncle Oliver was here and headed downstairs, as he left Liam says uh-ver (Oliver) about 6 times, then wouldn't say it again and hasn't since. I definitely think Liam is just storing up all the information around him and one day he'll start talking away. For now he's the 'silent' one that walks around saying 'ut-oh', over and over.

They're also better with stairs now. We don't have any in our house that they get to practice on, but they do get some practice in with our 2 steps on our front porch when we go to and from the car. Coen has walked up the stairs on his own before. It scares me since he's not well balanced, but he did it. (I still assist him for fear of him falling on the concrete.)

Their favorite activities right now is anything outside. They love playing in the backyard, running up and down our small hill. They've also discovered how to ride their toy car down the hill and they love that! With the weather getting warmer we've tried to spend as much time outdoors as possible. Before long it will be too hot so we're taking advantage of this wonderful weather. (Of course the super hot weather will just mean pool time!)

One cute thing Liam has picked up is his new love for stuffed animals. He will carry them around the house room to room. He'll even climb up into their glider or couch with a book and a stuffed animal to read to them.

They also love to help mommy in the kitchen with cooking or cleaning. I think I am going to have some great helpers... for a while at least. I found a perfect first chore for them too.. wiping down the outside of the refrigerator! I gave them both a wet rag and they immediately started scrubbing away. It works out perfectly since all the smudges are the perfect height.. since they're the ones creating them.

Tooth count: Coen's final canines came through so they're both at 16. I checked the other night for any sign of the last molars and Liam's gums are a little swollen feeling, but no points or sight of anything new, and I think Coen's are a bit far off for now.
